Why do you do what you do, why do you think what you think, why do you feel what you feel.  Mythos-- or what we'd now roughly call science and story telling  So philosophia- the love of wisdom  philosophy- the academic study of anything  plato's academy- Platos-  but philosophy came to be understood more as a way of thinking about questions  What is the world like  What is the nature off reality  is there anything else in the world besides matter and energy  do I have a soul  metaphysics- the branch of philosophy that studies the nature of reality  Esistemkology- The branch of philosophy that studies the nature and the scope of knowledge

 Plan for Athens  Pericles led Athens during much of its Golden age. Held onto a popular support for 32 years  Dominated Athens 461- 429  called age of the Pericles Had three Goals.                    1. Today in class we had a review day. Our test is Friday. I feel confident on the information and I am hoping for at least a ring of the bell when I get my test back. The hardest part for me will probably be on the map

Today in class we were allowed time to get our notes together for out test Friday. The test is on the pages 123-133. I need to do good on this test, so I will be studying hard. I studied the power points and got my note up to date.

Today in class we continued the power point. we talked how they fight in battle and how it is a honor to serve for your country. A type of fighting or a attack method is a Phalanx. They are is a group using long swords and shields to protect them selves

Setting the stage During the dorian Period, Greek civilization experienced a decline. There were two things that changed things in Greece. First, Dorians and mycenaens began to identify less with the culture of there ancestors, and adapted more to the local area they are living in today. Second, By the end of this period they established a formal government. Rules and order in greek City States Polis- city states Acropolis-  fortified hill top Monarchy- A king or queen that is a ruler, instead of a government Aristocracy- a government ruled by a small group of noble, land owning families Oligarchy- government ruled by a few powerful people Tyrants- Wealthy people in charge Athens Builds a Limited Democracy Democracy- Rule by the people. Today in class we went through the power point. we talked about the god and goddess and the types of them and what they do. Its neat seeing all of the types of gods with lot of different traits. These people really do look up to these god and goddess and they almost have to do what they say. now a days most of the people have different religions and don't so much believe in them, but it will be always there.

Today in class we finished our google doc's. The part I did was lifestyle. I talked about there way of life and how they go all about there day. it is neat comparing there daily habits to ours. Greeks were also very fit for doing daily activities outside on the daily. they also had a healthy diet.

Today in class we got back my terrible pop quiz. I guess next time I should study the map a little bit better. Even though that hurt my grade we started a group project. the project is about writing a somewhat formal essay about the points of Greece. some points are Lifestyle, Government, geography, and rulers. We stared this in class and I got about 5 sentences down about the lifestyle and more to go in then next class.
